Maintenance - Lubrication
The upper and lower chain guide strips should be protected against premature wear by a grease type lubricant.
During operation some grease is lost due to chain motion, gravity and displacement. The lost grease should be replaced on a frequent and periodic basis.
The grease used to lubricate the chain guide strips is open to contamination from fluids, dust, and wear particles from the operating environment. Addition of grease on a frequent and periodic basis will provide clean grease to the wear surfaces.
At minimum grease should be re-applied once per month.
Or more frequently when the grease condition is observed to degrade in any of the following manner:
o The grease has become dry or caked.
o The grease has lost its viscosity and/or separating due to exposure to environmental liquids.
o The grease consistency is gritty and coarse, when rubbed between fingertips.
Clear access to the conveyor bed and the underside of the driving chain must be attained.
